With a digital camera, you can take a picture probably in high quality and that's about all. But with a smartphone that comes with a camera, you can do more things than just taking a picture as you get more functionalities made possible by apps.
Like the app Barcode Scanner mentioned in the previous article, it makes use of your smartphone camera to capture a barcode and produces the content you need.
What about Google Goggles? You might be surprised when this app can do even more things.
You can use it to take a picture with a built-in camera, analyze a wide range of objects and obtain helpful search results.
Google Goggles applies image recognition technology and is able to help you identify products, famous landmarks, logos, artwork, books, DVDs or CDs, barcodes, contact info and most popular images found online.
It also can translate words in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian after scanning a text image you captured.
Even more amazingly, if you play a Sudoku puzzle and can't solve it after trying hard enough, Google Goggles comes to your rescue. Check it out, use this app to snap a puzzle, tap Solve and it returns a solution in a browser for you within a few seconds. Gotta love this!
