What is Indexing An Stopping It??

Hi All,

When I boot up my pc, an icon in the mini-try starts Indexing.

What is Indexing and does it do?

Can I access its setting, to prevent it from auto starting up?

Any suggestions or feedback as to how to resolve this problem,

and please post any step by step instructions as well.

Please Keep In Simple.

Thanks In Advance for the help

Hi jjoe,
You need to go to My Computer and right click each drive you have on the hard disk. If you have not partitioned it this will just be be "C".
Click on Properties, and uncheck "Allow indexing on this drive". I think you are then given the option to include all subfolders etc. Confirm this and you will save a lot of background memory use by Windows.

Good luck
