Helpdesk

Lets me run a helpdesk. There are many but I have found none that allow you to add and inventory computers that are not on the network. There are many but I've found none that let me add machines with different IP addys.

Try Techinline Remote Desktop www.techinline.com. You or the remote client does not have to install anything on either end. I find it to be the easiest tool to use from what I've tested.

If you're wanting to have a remote helpdesk so that you can simply run other PCs remotely then you might want to look @ Ultra VNC. It works pretty well, it's free, and it's easy to use.

You can also set up a UVNC SC (SingleClick) that is a self contained executable that a person can run to set up the connection and when you disconnect after the help session, it auto-uninstalls. Requires no port forwarding on the client side, only you as the person being connected to need to point the connection requests to your machine.

Supports encryption.

I use it and I'm happy w/ it overall.
I know of at least 4 tech companies that use it regularly

I am a recent Spiceworks "convert" so I am not sure if you can manually add PCs. That aside, Spiceworks is an amazing helpdesk / inventory utility. Give it a try.

SpiceWorks may do some of the things you want:
